Dargah Shariff
One of the most visited places of Ajmer; the Ajmer Dargah is a Sufi shrine which is believed to be one of the holiest places in Rajasthan. Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, who was a Persian Sufi saint, is enshrined in this place owing to his secular preaching’s. He is believed to be the descendant of Muhammad, and it is on his request that he came to India. It is believed that if you pray for anything with a pure heart at the Ajmer Dargah, it is bound to be fulfilled.
Ana Sagar Lake
Ana Sagar Lake is the biggest Lake in Ajmer, with the maximum catchments area with a depth of maximum of 4.4 meters and can store about 4.75 million cubics of water. Ana Sagar Lake is one of the most famous lakes in Rajasthan and offers a number of recreational activities for tourists visitng Ajmer. There is an island in the center of the lake which is accessible by boat. Boats could be hired from the east side of the Dault Bagh.
Adhai-Din Ka Jhonpra
Beyond the Dargah of Khwaja Muin-up-din Chishti, on the town outskirts, are the extraordinary ruins of the Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpra mosque and it is one of the famous places to visit in Ajmer. It was originally built as a Sanskrit college, but in 1198 Mohammed of Ghori seized Ajmer and converted the building into a mosque by adding a seven-arched wall covered with Islamic calligraphy in front of the pillared hall.
Akbar's Palace & Museum
Archaeological Museum was established in 1949. Located in the Dil-e-Aaram Gardens of Ajmer, the museum is divided into three sections and it is one of the best Ajmer tourist places. Comprising a collection of sculptures and some excavated material of earlier civilizations, the museum features two 'Yupa Pillars' (sacrificial posts). These are adorned with inscriptions from Barnala as well as Prathihara sculptures of the 8th century and terracotta belonging to early historical periods.
Nasiyan Jain Temple
The Ajmer Jain temple, also known as Soniji Ki Nasiyan, is an architecturally rich Jain temple.This temple is dedicated to the first Tirthankara - Rishabh dev . Next to the main temple is an old and beautiful haveli, turned into a museum. It is exhibiting the life of Rishabh dev (adinath ), from his birth, renunciation, enlightenment to salvation, in a marvelous model called city of gold or swarna nagari.
Victoria Jubilee Clock Tower
Initially built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in the 19th century, the Clock Tower now stands as a symbol for the city of Ajmer. One of the top Ajmer famous places, the Clock Tower displays a fantastic use of Indo-Islamic architectural styles. Four balconies topped by a characteristic Islamic dome look out from the four sides of the Tower, offering a splendid panoramic view of the surrounding cityscape.
Durga Bag Gardens
Durga Bagh is a charming garden on the banks of the majestic Ana Sagar Lake. The garden was built by Maharaja Shiv Dan in 1868 AD. The Marble pavilions (Baradari) built in the premises of the Daulat Bagh are the main attraction apart from the greenery and numerous trees and flowering plants. The pavilions were built by Emperor Shah Jahan. This place is an ideal picnic spot.
Sai Baba Temple
Sprawling across 2 acres, Ajmer’s Sai Baba Temple is a fairly new tourist spot in this region. The stunning temple is built entirely out of marble, and is flocked by devotees throughout the week. Pujas are conducted every Thursday and Saturday, making them the busiest and most crowded days in the temple. The gorgeous temple also offers shelter to all Sai Baba devotees looking for refuge there.
Ajmer Government Museum
The Museum is divided into separate sections, including sections on Arts Crafts, Industry, Archaeology and Armory. There is a separate Children’s gallery as well. The collection at the Government Museum includes historic sculptures of several Indian deities, daggers and swords, renowned Mughal paintings and much more.
